Diet

The sharing of refreshments can play an important part in the social life of St.Francis as well as reinforcing children’s understanding of the importance of healthy eating. Snacks are served half way through each session.

St.Francis will ensure that it fulfils all requirements and that:

  • All snacks provided are nutritious, avoiding large quantities of fat, sugar, salt, additives, preservatives and colourings
  • Before your child attends St.Francis, staff will discuss with you the dietary needs of your child. This will include any allergies and we will make arrangements to ensure these are met
  • The dietary rules of religious groups and also of vegetarians/vegans are known and met in appropriate ways
  • We aim to ensure that children are given the opportunity to taste foods from other cultures and new unfamiliar foods
  • Water is always available
  • Parents providing packed lunches will be advised about safe storage
  • Menus of snacks are displayed in the group
  • Milk supplied for children is whole and pasteurised
